Philomath Community Foundation
The Board of Directors of PCF
The Philomath Community Foundation currently operates with an eleven person governing Board of Directors with each Director serving a three year term. Area residents, businessmen and women, and other professionals sit on this Board. We meet monthly to hear community presentations, review currently funded projects, and to discuss new grant applications. All projects funded by the Board must first meet the Foundation's criteria.
Neal Peterson - President Neal Peterson has lived in the Philomath area for 34 years, is married to Johanna and has three children who graduated from Philomath High School. He is a graduate of Oregon State University in Civil Engineering and was president/general manager of Devco Engineering in Corvallis before retiring in 2006. Steve Kearsley - Treasurer Steven is one of the founders of the Philomath Community Foundation and remains one of its strongest advocates. He is a Certified Public Accountant and retired from a career in the investment management industry. Steve serves on two mutual fund and several non-profit boards. Rod Harvey - Secretary Rod began his career in the Philomath School District as a teacher in 1971. He served as principal of Philomath Elementary, Blodgett and Kings Valley schools for a number of years. During the year prior to his retirement in 2004, he served as superintendent. Rod resides in Philomath with his wife, Doris, and they have two grown children, Amy and Andy. Matt Biereck, Director Chris Gerding - Director Bob & Teresa Boss - Directors Bob works with the Benton County Juvenile Department and Teresa is a Behavior Assistant at the Philomath Elementary School. Joseph Malcom - Director Joe grew up in South Benton County and worked in the banking industry for 38 years, retiring in March of 2008. He has lived in the Philomath area since 1973 along with his wife and family. His professional career was primarily centered in Corvallis and Philomath, allowing him to be very involved with community civic activities. Thomas Wright - Director Tom is a retired professor having previously taught at the State University of New York, Ball State University, Oregon State University and at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. He currently produces the monthly Lions Club Newsletter and he has written or co-authored nine public school textbooks, as well as a number of journal articles. He is involved in the Lions Club, as well as the Philomath Downtown Association. Tom and his wife, Phyllis ( a retired first grade teacher), have two grown daughters, Rhonda and Julie. Matt works at Mega Tech of Oregon (a contract manufacturer that provides fully integrated, turn-key rofessional engineering, production and support services) and is a Philomath City Councilor.

Chris Gerding has lived in Philomath for twenty-nine years and has taught Health and Physical Education for thirty-two years. She enjoys volunteering in the community



Linda Howard has lived in Philomath for over 30 years and works as a CAD Designer at Devco Engineering, Inc. She and her husband, Kim, are deeply involved in Philomath and its many activities.
